Nintendo's Sky Skipper - Rescuing a Forgotten Arcade

Nintendo's Sky Skipper - Rescuing a Forgotten Arcade

Saturday, 25th May 2024, All day session (11:00 AM to 5:00 PM)

In 2016 on a dusty shelf, a lost Nintendo arcade game was discovered, Sky Skipper from 1981. After testing poorly Nintendo chose not to release the arcade and PCBs were scrapped or repurposed and the arcade was never again seen by the public.

Join Alex Crowley (Arcade Archive) and Whitney Roberts (SkySkipperProject.com) for a retrospective look at how they discovered and restored the Sky Skipper arcade, and try this rare piece of Nintendo history for yourself.

Museum curator Alex is joined by Whitney who is flying in from the USA to give a presentation recounting their time together working to rebuild these almost-forgotten and potentially forever-lost cabinets, from discovery through to the completed UK and US reveal.

This will be your opportunity to hear about all of the inside discussions, project ups and downs and some of the controversy that arose in due course of the project.

The day will include:
• Full access to the Cave and Arcade Archive
• A buffet lunch (vegetarian and vegan options included)
• A presentation by Alex and Whitney
• Access to the restored Sky Skipper cabinet to play
• A day of retro gaming in our museums with other enthusiasts
• An open invitation to join us for drinks and dinner in the evening in Stroud town centre

Book early to avoid missing!
